That is that the first time you open Entourage and send something it warns you the Certificate is invalid. No need to describe what that is - more important to say to David that I am running Entourage 2008 with El Capitan on an iMac Retina 27 inch with no problems except for one glitch. Whatever maybe going on 'under the hood', Entourage provides the most practical and workable user interface and appearance and I for one have tried all the other newer ones but none can do for me what Entourage does. Despite all the argy bargy about old software etc., I am really in tune with his wish to stay with Entourage. I was sad to see the negativity displayed towards David's wish to keep with Entourage. What kind of account - Exchange, POP/IMAP? What exactly is it doing when you say "not showing all emails properly"? Basically abandon using Entourage altogether and live with Outlook. One reply suggests first installing Office/Outlook 2011, importing everything, and then upgrade to Outlook 2016 and import everything again. I would have stayed with OS 10.8 but now Apple has abandoned providing security patches for that OS, and you are told that puts you in a very precarious position if you stay in 10.8. Thus there is no way to keep using it without some type of "fix".Īlthough I would very much like to keep using Entourage as it does all that I need and I have been using it since it came out, it would seem at this point maybe us former users are now being forced into a different client, such as Outlook or Mail. I upgraded from Mac OS 10.8.5 to 10.11 and the program does seem to at least open, but it immediately hangs up and goes into the "not responding" mode and then you simply have to force quit. In my case, I was using Entourage%uFEFF 2008 web services edition on an exchange account. Better yet, take this opportunity to ditch Entourage. If your account type is IMAP, or Exchange, just delete the data files and start fresh. It introduces a huge opportunity for data loss. That's not possible with Entourage or Outlook since Microsoft believes that packing everything into a data file is a good thing. If there's an issue with Apple's Mail app, I don't lose my email data since I can go locate the email data and manually get out it. I prefer Apple's built-in Mail, Calendar, and Contacts apps because they are mostly problem free. In the end, Outlook on Mac is seriously hobbled compared to the Windows version. Outlook 2016 seems to be an even bigger improvement. When Microsoft released Outlook 2011 for Mac, it was a decent improvement, but it still had all of the problems that Entourage did, but it was a little better. Honestly, I think that Entourage is crap. Outlook 2011 works good on El Capitan, and so does Outlook 2016. If you can get it to work, I guess that's good, but you really should upgrade to a newer version of Office. You're expecting eight year old software to work on a new Apple OS. I don't recommend using Entourage at all.
